Civil Engineering Subjects

Civil Engineering is one of the oldest and largest field of engineering. It deals with the design, planning, maintaining, construction, surveying, supervising the construction or infrastructure and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, dams, airports, canals, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways. Civil Engineering is widely use in every aspects around the world.

Civil Engineering is considered as a single largest branch among all the engineering branches. It is the also second oldest field after military engineering. According to a new research report by Global Market Insights, Inc, the Civil Engineering Market size is expected to grow up to $12 Trillion by the year 2025.

Skills Requires for Civil Engineering:

The following skill sets you have to require becoming a good civil engineer:

  • Creativity
  • Excellent knowledge
  • Leadership skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure

Civil Engineering Eligibility Criteria:

The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing Diploma in Civil Engineering is qualifying 10th examination to get an admission in First Year and 10+2 examination to get an admission in Direct Second Year, with good qualifying marks in English, Science and Mathematics.

The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing Degree in Civil Engineering or B.E. (Bachelor in Civil Engineering) is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination to get an admission in First Year and good qualifying, marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum 60% of aggregate marks or Diploma to get an admission in Direct Second Year with minimum 60% of aggregate marks.

A Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is conducted by Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). The entrance in IIT can be only secure by clearing JEE examination.

The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing M.E. (Masters in Civil Engineering) after passing the graduation/ degree in Civil Engineering.

Scope of Civil Engineering:

Civil engineering deals with the aspects like design, construction, maintenance, etc. There are lots of jobs opportunities are available for civil engineers in the areas and projects like constructions, development of projects, designing, construction firms, etc.

Civil engineers also have huge opportunities in private sector such as in multi-national companies and in public sector such as government organizations like construction of highways, railways, bridges, dams, government offices, etc.

Civil engineers also have wide scope in its sub-disciples such as design, development, construction, maintenance, Geotechnical, etc.
