What is the difference between Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering?

Many engineering students are confuse between electrical and electronics engineering.  Electrical and electronics engineering are not similar words for the same thing, they may sound similar but they are very different. Both branches of engineering are much popular and studying on the basis of electrical, power, energy, electronics components and many more.

What is Electrical Engineering?

Electrical Engineering (EE) is one of the most popular field of engineering which concerned with the study, design and application of equipment, devices and systems refers to electrical machinery, problems of generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy, electrical controls in factories, motors and their control and transformers.

Electrical Engineering is widely use in every aspects around the world. It also have specialties such as speech, signal processing to electromagnetic compatibility, automobiles to vehicle technology, acoustics, geo-science and remote sensing, robotics, ultra-sonic, and frequency control.

Electrical Engineers typically posses four year academic degree course in Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Electrical Engineering from University.

The one of the main subjects in an electrical engineering includes the study of,

  • Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering
  • Elements of Electrical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering Material
  • Electricity Technology and Machines
  • Analysis of Electrical Power Systems

What is Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering?

Electronics and telecommunication Engineering (ETCE) deals with semiconductor devices such as Diodes, Bipolar Junction Transistors, Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors and their interconnections on a printed circuit board as well as in the form of integrated circuits. In addition to designing components for consumer hardware’s such as the projects like government healthcare, technology and science mostly in companies.

Electrical and Telecommunication Engineers typically posses four year academic degree course in Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from University.

The one of the main subjects in an electronics and telecommunication engineering includes the study of,

  • Telecommunications
  • Microprocessor Interfacing
  • Instrumentation
  • Power Electronic Converters
  • Digital Electronic Circuits
